2015: The XX, The Darker the Berry & The Other Team

So everyone's asking me, "TC! What will be all the rage in Film and TV media for 2015? What will blow our minds and fill our hearts? What in 2015 will change my life?

Well everyone --- and when I say everyone I really mean no one. Because no one has asked me anything, alas I'm here to divulge anyway! --  The answer is: Nothing.  I don't foresee any form of Television Show or Film changing your life this year. Although that wouldn't be something I could see regardless, seeing as I am not a psychic nor am I in your brain. In fact, I believe that we are going to have the same run up of themes that we have been having for the last few years (for the most part).

These would be:

Period Pieces - period drama pieces, period action pieces, war period pieces, Reese's pieces.

Murder Mysteries/Crime Shows - The same freakin' murder/crime malarkey everyone has watched for the past 20 years. Spooky ones, quirky ones, bloody ones, long ones, short ones, ones about the "chosen ones".

Dead ISH -  I think we will be done with this Ish by the end? of 2015ish.
However zombies, vampires all the same dead sh*t that has been straggling on will STILL be around this year...I'm counting on 2016 being about Knomes or something festive..But who knows, the song Thriller
is like 40 years old and won't die!
So maybe Dead Ish is here to stay.
Ironic, right?

Work Place ISH -- So I already want to beat myself in the head with the keyboard when I'm at work. You know, until I pass out. The only thing that stops me is the thought of it leaving permanent damage. BUT of course I WANT to come home and watch the fictional pain of others going through the same bullshit work politics, outlandish plot lines and awkward dialog…. No really, I do. I love it. . . . . . . . . .

DRAMAS.. I'm not going to elaborate..

The Revolution! - Viva El RevolutiĆ³n! ( I just put an accent on a random letter hoping it was right?-- You mad? )  A LOT of film/series seem to revolve around a revolution of sorts. Is this a mirror of our boiling social economic climate in the United States? Or..no? Everything's gravy baby.

And that brings us to what's new?!  What will be the most forward, trending and exciting things of 2015. Well lucky for You, ME and THIS BLOG, It will be -- drum roll please (**drum roll**) --

1. Women  2. Black Women  3. Lesbians (Not your momma's Lesbians)

Women

1. Shows such as Girls, Marvel's Agent Carter, Broad City and quite a few more burning up our television screens are screaming, 'We're here, We Bleed, Get Used to It!" ... ( You like how I made that up? Was it too much.. yeah probably)

Black Women

2. The appreciation of black talent, specifically black women, has been huge and was very main stream during 2014 and I don't foresee that slowing down. Stars like Lupita Nyong - who won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 12 Years A Slave; Shonda Rhimes and Kerry Washington killing ABC's ratings - and that's just to name a few. But this year started off amazingly with Uzo Aduba and the entire cast of OITNB winning SAG Awards (Aduba for Outstanding Performance from a Female Actor in a comedy series). Then the graceful Viola Davis wins the SAG for Female Actress in a Drama Series. What a way to start the year right? Well whether or not Black/Black Females talent is a fad in Hollywood or here to stay, I am not sure  (maybe we should consult the Sony Execs on that one topic Their racist comments here. ). Either way, I have to say I am one proud black woman and I look forward to what 2015 has in store for these talented women.

3. That (XX)(XX) Love. No I don't have too much of a solid claim as to why I see this being a trend this year, just subtleties here and there, but just you wait and see, the "New Lesbian" will be a thing of 2015. And no I'm not talking your Ellen DeGenerous, Wanda Sykes, could be your next door neighbor, friendly lesbian. Nor am I talking the over sexualized, hyper feminist lesbian depicted on shows such as Showtime's The L Word. I'm talking raw, uncut, kind of  scary, hard core, with an edge, but a big heart (maybe) -  type of lesbian. Just like most cultures in America that hit mainstream media, it gets stream lined and it's ideologies change throughout the decades. It is now the time of the rough neck lesbian - don't believe me #justwatch .   (or watch videos on 2015 TV shows here)

Also watch THIS rough neck kill this beat... And maybe even you if you get to close... Preview of what's to come.
